"Tragic the black impenetrable distance / wherever she moonless lives" has a very satisfying resonance with one of Eliot's Four Quartos ("Burnt Norton" I think?). Two beautiful poems.

Indeed. “Time and the bell have buried the day, / The black cloud carries the sun away…”

The line I had in mind was "ridiculous the waste sad time / stretching before and after."
